Battle for Bastogne @ Boss Company Paintball

February 12th, 2011

The Battle of Bastogne event took place this past weekend and man what a game it was. This was my first time playing in a all day game with ODX, first time having Ferg as our General in the game, and the first time playing at Boss Company Paintball. Let me go ahead and say that I was impressed with all fronts. ODX along with the whole German force played awesome and Ferg’s game plan was as close to flawless as you can get. The best thing was that the Boss Company field and the staff were awesome.

The game started promptly at 1000 hours, I was little concerned because most of our team was still at the chrono. I was on tank protection detail so I waited on some of my squad to join me before we rolled out to take our first objective, the munitions factory. It didn’t take us long to get it after we had wiped out the guys on our flanks we pushed straight through and took it. We got orders to move on forward and take the abandoned barn. The barn proved a little more difficult because it was a lot more open than the munitions factory was, after the tanks got up the hill though we had it and we didn’t let it go for the rest of the day.

We held off quite a few pushes at the abandoned barn. It was here that we secured our mobile respawn point and that truly changed the battle to our favor. We were able to put this barrel behind a base and spawn from it instead of going all the way back to the DZ. Things were really going our way when we got Intel from our spy that their next mission was to secure the base where or mobile respawn point was at. They tried hard to get the base but the fact that as soon as a guy got hit he could walk three steps and was back in the game was too much to overcome.

The American forces made a great push on our left flank through Georgetown that got me worried but somehow it got repelled while I was going back to the DZ. I know ODX mission team was in the area over there so I’m sure those guys lead a great assault with other players. I ran into Greenman and he had Intel from our spy that the American forces were behind our lines with one guy flipping flags. We hunted him down quickly and flipped the bases back to Red. Our next Intel from our spy told us that a airdrop was getting ready to occur.

Our spy, Twitch, did awesome giving us the info we needed. There were 11 of them including Twitch and we walked them down and out. We tried a push on the American front lines along the tapeline but it didn’t work out too well. I went out for paint and when I got back in we had moved their lines back again, apparently a tank had came through and helped move them back. American forces were on their last breath as we were just pushing them further back with each push. The next push came with two tanks through a key city that I can’t remember the name, once again resistance proved tough at first but a great bunker tag by an unknown player took out four guys at once.

We had pushed the American forces all the way back to Bastogne and I didn’t even know it. What can I say I lost my map. To sum this up we made push after push but the American forces weren’t budging anymore. Slowly the German forces ran out of air and paint. A lot of guys began rushing the hill with no air or ammo. It was still a great effort but the Americans had our number at Bastogne.

The final score was tallied and the Germans handed a crushing defeat to the American forces. Ferg accepted the award and gave away our biggest secret, which player our spy was. The Americans had no clue who it was after a full day of play, props to Twitch on that. MVT went to Tango Alpha 2 Paul and his boys did work where ever they were at on the field and it was deserved.

I had an absolute blast and can’t wait for the next game at Boss Company. The ref staff was great and there were plenty of refs at every area of the game. Every ref I ever talked to on the field knew the rules and was glad to help out. Even though my summary doesn’t seem like the American did much those guys played their hearts out. Excellent tank play and infantry keeping the AT’s off of our tanks was the big story of the day.
